Bio
Saudade Hernandez-Benjamin was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She spent the first years of her life in Coyoacán, a colony of the city, where her family has lived for generations.
She moved to Madrid, Spain with her family during the late eighties, following her father for a one year assignment that turned into a 13 year one. She graduated from high school with hopes of entering the Fine Arts School at the Complutense University of Madrid. Unfortunately, the program was in such high demand, that she had to settle for a secondary alternative, the School of Geography and Anthropology.
During the first semester at this school, she met her fiancée, and before the semester was over, she had flown to Tallahassee, FL.
It was there that, after much encouragement from her then husband that she decided to apply for the Fine Arts Department at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
She was accepted, and she spent the next four years working and going to school, finally achieving a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, with a minor in Graphic Arts with honors.
After graduation she started working with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs as their sole in-house designer.
